KOCHI – In a strong move against any explicit content online, YouTube has blocked the channel of notorious YouTuber Muhammad Nihad from Kerala who is popularly known as “Thoppi.”
The quick ban of the YouTuber’s channel was initiated after an investigation by the Ernakulam Rural Cyber Crime Police.
Why YouTube Terminated the 'Thoppi' Channel
The sudden closure of the channel is due to the increasing criminal investigation that has been done by cybercrime units from the region.
According to the local authorities, the following violations made by the digital platform have resulted in its closure:
Distribution of Obscene Content – The FIR says that Nihad uploaded and aired obscene pictures and videos of his acquaintances on the streaming sites after falling out with them.
Cyber Police Directives – The Ernakulam Rural Cyber Police initiated an official case under the IT act, reporting the links of malicious content directly to YouTube's mother company to ban the channel.
History of Criticism – The creator has had a long history of backlash and investigations from the police and public due to indecency in public and broadcasts of toxic behavior.
Legal Repercussions Escalate
The state police apparatus initiated the probe after a formal complaint was filed by legal advocate Sreejith Perumana. Because the digital transmission originated from a residence in Varappuzha, the rural cyber wing assumed jurisdiction over the case to track the electronic evidence.
Signaling a zero-tolerance approach to revenge media and public obscenity, the police department has formally opposed Nihad's anticipatory bail plea. Authorities have emphasized to the judiciary that the actions constitute a grave digital offense, effectively halting the creator's access to his primary millions-strong digital audience.
