While Typhoon Bavi makes its way to China's eastern coastline, local governments in the area have taken up extensive disaster management procedures, including the evacuation of more than 17,000 people from Zhejiang province. Given that the typhoon is supposed to hit China at the border of Fujian and Zhejiang provinces over the weekend, officials have put 170,000 rescuers on alert.

Taiwan: There have been considerable effects on Taiwan as the storm passes over the northern parts with Taipei suspending classes for Friday. Fishing boats in the north have been anchored in the harbors while there is a likelihood of heavy rains that may even reach one meter in the mountainous regions.

Travel Setbacks: The travel activities in the region have been greatly disrupted with many flights to Japan, Hong Kong, and other foreign locations being canceled until Saturday.

Orange Alert in China: The National Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert concerning the typhoon making residents in the eastern provinces prepare accordingly.

This comes following a series of weather disasters that have been experienced in the area over the past week. Just before that, Tropical Storm Maysak brought about heavy floods in the southern Chinese Guangxi region which killed at least 39 people. Furthermore, strong thunderstorms and tornadoes in the Hubei province led to the death of 11 people.
