Oppo has officially expanded its popular mid-range lineup with the launch of the Oppo Reno 16 series in China. The new lineup includes two devices, the standard Oppo Reno 16 and the flagship Oppo Reno 16 Pro.
Along with the premium Oppo Pad 6 tablet, the Reno 16 series follows the Reno 15 lineup, which debuted in China late last year. It quickly reached international markets like India. This release timeline suggests that a global and Indian launch for the Reno 16 series is coming soon. While both smartphones target slightly different user preferences regarding size and performance, Oppo has made a notable decision to keep the same pro-grade camera system in both models.
Shared Feature: A Flagship 200MP Camera Array
Unlike many mid-range smartphone families, you don’t need to upgrade to the more expensive “Pro” model to get the best camera system. The standard and the Pro share the same high-end camera hardware:
Main Camera: A huge 200MP main shooter with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for razor-sharp, blur-free low-light photography.
Ultra Wide Lens: A 50-megapixel camera, ideal for capturing high-resolution wide-angle landscape shots.

Telephoto lens: Up to 3.5x optical zoom with 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, so you can zoom in on subjects from afar without losing any detail.
Front Camera: 50MP selfie shooter for the front facing duties.

Video Recording: Both models allow recording video up to 4K at 60 frames per second on the front and rear systems.
The camera systems are a great match but the two devices are quite different in raw power, battery life and screen size.
The Reno 16 Pro is intended for heavy users and comes with a huge 7,000mAh battery combined with MediaTek's top-tier Dimensity 9500s processor. It also features the usual 80W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging support.
The standard Reno 16 is intended for the more pocketable, more compact user. It is reduced to a 6.32-inch screen and uses the Dimensity 8550 Super processor. But it still carries a pretty impressive 6,700mAh battery capacity, which is better than most of its competitors in the category.
